You will want to apply to a Nova Scotia Nominee Program (NSNP) stream when you are ready to relocate to NS
Prospective immigrants with the skills and expertise required by NS, will be nominated to immigrate on a permanent basis through the NSNP. The nine streams available are listed below:
The processing time for eligible applications can be three months or more.
This stream is for business owners or executives. They must start a new business or buy an existing one and be actively involved in its day-to-day operations. The entrepreneur may be nominated for PR after 12 months of business operation.
Main eligibility criteria:
To apply under this stream, you will need to demonstrate the following:
- Be at least 21 years old
- Live and own a business in NS
- Have a net worth of at least CA$600K
- Able to invest at least $150K
- Have at least 3 years’ experience in managing and owning business
- Hold at minimum a high school diploma or equivalent
- Proficiency in English or French (CLB 5)
This stream is for recent graduates of the University of Nova Scotia or Nova Scotia Community College. They must have started or acquired a business in Nova Scotia. If graduates intend to settle in Nova Scotia after operating for at least 12 months, they may be nominated for PR.

- Be at least 21 years old

- Have at least 1 year of experience in managing and owning business
- Hold a degree or diploma from NS University or Community College

This stream is intended for recent international graduates whose skills and education are aligned with a specific job category in the National Occupational Classification (NOC).
As at 30 June 2021, this stream is currently only open to workers in two NOC occupations;
- NOC 3413: Nurse Aids, Orderlies, and Patient Service Associates
- NOC 4214: Early Childhood Educators and Assistants
Main eligibility criteria:
To apply under this stream, you will need to demonstrate the following:
- Be between 21 and 55 years old (inclusive)
- A job offer in a NOC occupation listed above
- Hold high school diploma and degree, diploma or certificate
- Hold relevant certifications from NS regulator body
- Proficiency in English or French (CLB 5)
- Access to sufficient funds
This stream is for healthcare professionals working in one of the two NOC occupations listed below;
- NOC 3112: General Practitioners and Family Physicians; and
- NOC 3111: Specialist Physicians
Main eligibility criteria:
To apply under this stream, you will need to demonstrate the following:
- Receive physician job offer from NSHA or IWK
- Commitment to living in NS for at least 2 years
- Hold relevant qualifications for occupation
- Have at least 1 year work experience
- Access to sufficient funds
This stream helps Nova Scotia health authorities recruit and retain skilled healthcare professionals working in two NOC Occupations;
- NOC 3112: General Practitioners and Family Physicians; and
- NOC 3111: Specialist Physicians
Main eligibility criteria:
To apply under this stream, you will need to demonstrate the following:
- Receive GP or physician job offer from NSHA or IWK
- Commitment to living in NS for at least 2 years
- Hold relevant credentials/licensure to practise Medicine
- Proficiency in English or French to level required for practising Medicine
This stream is for highly qualified individuals who have at least one year of work experience in a NOC 0, A or B occupation, in NS.
- NOC 0 (zero): Management jobs
- NOC A: Professional jobs that usually require a tertiary degree
- NOC B: Technical jobs and skilled trades that usually require a diploma or training as an apprentice
Main eligibility criteria:
To apply under this stream, you will need to demonstrate the following:
- Be between 21 and 55 years old (inclusive)
- Hold at minimum a high school diploma or equivalent
- Have at least 1 year of experience within last 3 years in NOC 0, A or B occupation
- Proficiency in English or French
- CLB 7 for NOC 0 and A occupations
- CLB 5 for NOC B occupations
- Commitment to living in NS

These streams selects candidates who meet the specific needs of the Nova Scotia job market in the Federal Express Entry system.

This stream helps NS employers hire foreign workers and newly graduated international students with the skills needed in NS.

- A job offer from NS employer
- Proficiency in English or French
- Skilled workers: CLB 5 if English/French not first language
- Semi/low skilled workers: CLB 4 even if English/French first language
- Intend to live in NS
- Hold high school diploma and qualifications/training for nominated occupation
- Have adequate work experience
- NOC 0, A and B jobs: 1 year work experience within last 5 years in related occupation
- NOC C or D jobs: 6 months work experience with NS employer
