THE MANITOBA PROVINCIAL NOMINEE PROGRAM

When you are ready to move to Manitoba, you will want to apply to a Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP) stream. The programs available to migrants are below:

The processing time for assessing applications is approximately 6 months, although delays may occur where additional information or verification is needed.

This stream is a provincial initiative based on the needs of Manitoba employers. Internationally trained and experienced workers with the necessary skills in the labour market are selected to apply as a skilled worker.

Main eligibility criteria:

To apply for Skilled Workers in Manitoba pathway, you will need to demonstrate the following:

  • You received a full-time job offer
  • You have at least 6 months’ of work experience
  • You hold relevant qualifications, training and/or credentials for the occupation
  • You are proficient in English or French

The Skilled Workers Overseas pathway is a points-tested stream. To apply for the Skilled Workers overseas pathway, you will be scored on the following factors:

  • Your language ability
  • Your age
  • Amount of work experience
  • Level of education
  • Your connection to Manitoba

This stream provides a faster path to nominations for international students graduating in Manitoba and meeting the needs of the industry.

Main eligibility criteria:

Career Employment stream is for post-secondary students who graduate and find employment in Manitoba relevant to their studies and in an in-demand occupation. To apply for this pathway, you will need to demonstrate the following:

  • A full-time job offer
  • Graduated in Manitoba within past 3 years
  • Proficiency in English or French (CLB 7)
  • Either employed or able to show access to sufficient finances
  • You are a resident of Manitoba at time of application

Graduate Internship stream is for master and doctoral graduates who completed an Accelerate or Elevate Internship with Mitacs in Manitoba. To apply for this pathway, you will need to demonstrate the following:

  • Completed masters or doctoral degree within past 3 years
  • Completed Mitacs Accelerate or Elevate internship
  • Proficiency in English or French (CLB 7)
  • Either employed or able to show access to sufficient finances
  • You are a resident of Manitoba at time of application

International Student Entrepreneur Pilot stream is capped to 20 students per year. It is for international graduates of Manitoba who will pursue entrepreneurship rather than employment. To apply for this program, you will need to demonstrate the following:

  • Operated business as senior manager for at least 6 months
  • Proficiency in English or French (CLB 7)
  • Studied post-secondary course in Manitoba for at least 2 years
  • Between 21 and 35 years old (inclusive)
  • Have been resident in Manitoba since graduating
  • Show access to sufficient finances

This stream allows Manitoba to recruit and nominate qualified business investors and entrepreneurs from around the world who have the intent and ability to start or purchase businesses in Manitoba.

Main eligibility criteria:

Entrepreneur stream is for applicants seeking to open a business in Manitoba. To apply for this pathway, you will need to demonstrate the following:

  • Active business owner or senior manager for at least 3 years’ within past 5 years
  • Proficiency in English or French (CLB 5)
  • Canadian high school certificate (or equivalent)
  • Business investment of at least CA$250K in Manitoba Capital Region or CA$150K outside Manitoba Capital Region
  • Net worth of at least CA$500K

Farm Investor stream is for those intending to establish and operate a farm operation in rural Manitoba. To apply for this pathway, you will need to demonstrate the following:

  • At least 3 years’ experience owning and operating farm
  • Proficiency in English or French
  • Farm business investment of at least CA$300K
  • Ongoing and recurring farm business activities in rural Manitoba
  • Net worth of at least CA$500K
